Appoint Moderators to Your Channel

  1. 1Option 1 — via Creator Dashboard: Go to dashboard.kick.com/community/roles/moderator.
  2. 2Click Add New, search the target viewer's username, and appoint them as Moderator.
  3. 3Option 2 — via Live Chat Command: Type /mod [username] directly in your live chat to grant mod privileges instantly.
  4. 4To revoke, type /unmod [username].

Moderator Roles, Etiquette, and 2FA Security

  1. 1Choosing Mods: Select regular viewers who are polite, rational, and trustworthy — your mod team sets the tone of your chat culture.
  2. 2Mandatory 2FA (CRITICAL): Require all Moderators to enable 2-Factor Authentication on their KICK accounts before granting mod status.
  3. 3A hijacked mod account without 2FA can mass-ban viewers or clear your entire chat during a live stream.
  4. 4Backstage Communication: Create a private Discord channel (Mod Room) for your team to coordinate, report trolls, and align on moderation policies.
⚠️

Never skip 2FA enforcement for mods. A compromised mod account can purge your entire chat or ban hundreds of viewers in seconds. Make it a hard requirement before assigning mod status.

Run Predictions and Viewer Polls

  1. 1Predictions (Channel Points Stake): Type /prediction [Topic] | [Option 1] | [Option 2] in chat.

3. Standard Moderation Workflow & Unbanning Users

Progressive Escalation: Timeout, Ban & Unban

  1. 1Progressive Escalation Policy: Follow the sequence: Warn → Timeout → Permanent Ban.
  2. 21. Temporary Timeout: Type /timeout [username] [seconds].
  3. 3Example: /timeout troll123 60 (1-minute) or /timeout troll123 600 (10-minute).
  4. 42. Permanent Ban: Type /ban [username] [reason] — the user can no longer chat in your channel.
  5. 53. Unban: KICK has no native Unban Request form. Type /unban [username] in live chat, or go to dashboard.kick.com/moderation/banned-users and remove the user from the list.

Review the Mod Actions Log periodically. If a mod is timing out viewers too aggressively or inconsistently, you can spot the pattern and address it before it damages your community culture.

Can Moderators initiate Predictions or edit stream details?

A

Yes. Mods can run /prediction, start /poll, execute /raid, and update stream title/category via the Creator Dashboard.

How do I find out which Moderator banned or timed out a viewer?

A

Check the Mod Actions Log — open https://dashboard.kick.com/popout/[username]/mod-actions (replace [username] with your channel name). Every action is logged with the mod's name and timestamp.

How do I unban someone who was previously banned?

A

Type /unban [username] in live chat, or go to Creator Dashboard → Moderation → Banned users and remove them from the list.
